Today was the perfect day for a spot of horseriding! The sun was shining and after a day spent at the rodeo i was more than exited for getting on a horse myself. Although i was a little nervous since it has been about 9 years since i last sat on a horse, let alone rode one!
Me and Matt rode Jeannie's horses whilst Jeannie rode one of her friends horses. We also took another australlian girl on the trek with us.
I became quite attached to my horse, Smokey. He was really obedient and so soft! i just want to take him homw with me!
We started off by giving them a brush and securing the saddles and before we knew it we were trotting across the road. Trekking across the countryside was so much fun although we got sore bottoms after a while. Our horses were really good and very gentle, although at times they did like to up the speed a little and eat the grass along the way!
We rode past the lakes and could see the bluff we climbed in the distance. We were trekking up and down the hills and through the trees for about 2 hours when we decided it was time to let the horses have a rest while we went to the lakes for a quick, refreshing swim.
After a long afternoon on horseback and a relaxing time at the lakes. It was time to go milking with Bex at a neighbours farm.

We got ready in our overalls and gum boots and drove to Michael Groom's farm. When we arrived the cows were just on their way to the milking shed. They were all lined up and ready to be milked. I've done it before so i jus go straight into it. It's really good fun at first, but there are a lot of cows to milk, about 200.
The cups then all have to be cleaned and the poop has to be washed away with big pressure hoses. You have to watch out for the cows though, when you see their tales raise, you know its wise to move away!!
Brilliant Soph and Matt, can't quite believe that you can pack anything else into your time in NZ but you still seem to!! Still having the time of your life but we are so much looking forward to seeing you this week, try and let us know when you will be back - hopefully for my birthday!
