Today was Troy's 18th birthday and he decided it would be fun for a family day out at the horse races at Ruakaka on Northland's east coast. I had no idea what to expect because i have never been to the races before and we were all quite excited about the chance to win some $$$!
It was a really hot day and the sun was shining directly on us as we sat on the grass infront of the track for a birthday picnic.
Once we had placed our first bet of $2 each way we started to get enthusiatic about the racing! and guess what?...my horse WON! i only won $8, but still...its better than nothing!
From then on we gambled a bit more each time and suprisingly, we won quite often. It was a really great day!
After the races we drove back to Dargaville and went to Blah's for a drink and got a take away for tea...
