Last days in the bay...

Our last couple of days spent in the bay of islands were really nice and relaxed.
We visited the old stone shop in Kerikeri, ate foam eskimo's lollies and drank Fejoa juice. We also spotted a book written by Matt's auntie! We saw rock sculptures on the way to Rainbow falls.

Rainbow falls were beautiful waterfalls where we took a brief walk around the Kiwi reserve and placed our hands on the 'tree of faith.' We also drove back to Paihia for a quick visit to one of the beaches. There was a sand sculpture competition going on there and we took some photos.

Our last night at Robyn's was one to remember...we went Possum shooting!! Robyn shot 3 possums within about 20 minutes! She plucked the fur from them too. You can earn about $100 a kilo! Seriously, people actually buy this stuff!! Matt enjoyed himself, where i preferred to keep out of the way!
On the journey back down south towards Matt's home we stopped at Opononi to see the enormous sandjunes. It was a bit hazy and very rainy but that didn't stop us from taking travel breaks along the way to explore Waipoura forest and the Tane Mahuta Kauri tree. We also made a quick visit to the Kauri gift shop before we arrived back at home for a bbq and an early night...
