It all started one sunday morning at 130am as we had to leave the Blatherwick household to drop Blake off at the airport in Auckland. He was on his way to Aussie. Lucky thing!
We dropped him off at about 4.30am then headed to the nearest service station for some breakkie. Then drove onwards to Robyn and Tom's. (Matt's auntie and uncle in Hamilton) We took a quick power nap before heading out to Waitomo caves. There we took a boat ride and glided along the dark river running through one of their largest caves. Glowworms illuminated the ceiling and looked really stunning. After that we grabbed a bite to eat and headed to the Otorohanga Kiwi house and native bird park. We arrived just in time to see the Kiwi birds being fed. It was great!
We ended up in Hamilton city center for a mooch round and an ice cream then headed back to Robyn and Tom's for dinner. We had a lovely bbq out in the garden with steak and eggs, ratatouille (which matt actually ate!...and enjoyed!! shock horror!!) ...and courgettes that were picked fresh from the garden. I chatted about all you guys back home and talked a lot about you dad, and your business and your painting. Tom is really into his painting and does a lot of watercolour landscape scenes from around New Zealand and Wales. They are really brilliant. I liked them so much that he decided to give me one to take back for you dad! I'm sure you will like it.
Tomorrow we are getting up early and travelling to Rotarua to see the geothermal activity and Geyser. We might even try the Skyride and Luge if we have enough dollar! $$
Night night
